The Zanu PF leadership in Matabeleland South province yesterday said it has covered enough ground ahead of the by-elections slated for Saturday, adding that its candidates will win everything on offer.
Zimbabwe will hold by-elections on Saturday in 133 council wards and 28 parliamentary seats.
In Matabeleland South, by-elections will be held in six wards in Beitbridge, Insiza, Gwanda and Umzingwane.
The party’s Women’s League chairperson, Cde Sindisiwe Nleya, said they were expecting nothing short of 100 percent success in the by-elections.
Cdes Lawrence Tshili and Showa Moyo will represent the ruling party against the Citizens Coalition for Change’s Mr Morgan Ncube and Mr Granger Nyoni in Wards 4 and 5 respectively.
“We have covered a lot of ground and the whole provincial leadership is fully behind all our candidates and we resolved to conduct peaceful campaigns,” said Cde Nleya.
“We urge our party members to remain peaceful and from what we are seeing on the ground, all our candidates will win in all the local authority by-elections.
“Under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, Zanu PF has done a lot, and considering the development that’s taking place, we urge the voters to come out in their number and vote for Zanu PF.”
Cde Nleya said women bore the brunt of poor service delivery from councils and hence they needed to go out and vote for Zanu PF candidates who are capable of running viable councils.
Beitbridge Proportional Representation legislator, Cde Metrine Mudau, said teamwork, unity, and harmony were critical in moving the party forward.
Cde Mudau said the people of Matabeleland South had never disappointed in that aspect.

She said women and youths should go out and vote and that more eligible voters should register in their numbers to take part in future harmonised elections.
Zanu PF provincial vice chairman, Cde Albert Nguluvhe said: “We resolved as the leadership to support all the DCCs so that our candidates will do well in by-elections.
“As for Beitbridge, we are confident that the residents will correct the mistakes they made by voting for the opposition candidates who have failed on the service delivery aspect.”
Cde Nguluvhe said under opposition councillors, service delivery had deteriorated to its lowest in Beitbridge, the country’s fastest growing town.
He said it was important for voters to open their eyes and elect into office those with the capacity to deliver.
