Zanu-PF hails Potraz kiosks

Masvingo Correspondent
zanu-pf Masvingo Province has applauded Government, through the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe for establishing information kiosks that have improved access to information by the previously marginalised rural folk across the province’s seven districts.

The information kiosks were expected to bridge the digital gap between urbanites and marginalised rural people through provision of equal access to information.

zanu-pf Masvingo provincial chairperson Cde Ezra Chadzamira said opening of information kiosks was expected to transform lives of people in rural communities.

“The establishment of the kiosks particularly at growth points helps our people in rural areas to easily access information about key developments taking place in the country,” he said.

“Even information about key Government programmes is now easy to relay to the majority of our supporters who live in rural areas. We are very grateful as the zanu-pf Masvingo leadership for the work that Potraz is doing.

“It is a fact that everything in our lives has gone digital and these information kiosks will uplift the living standards of our people through improved access to information.”

Potraz director-general Dr Gift Machengete said the prevailing foreign currency woes were hampering efforts to procure enough computers for some of the kiosks that were opened by his organisation.
The organisation, which falls under the Ministry of Information Communication Technology and Cyber Security, had been transforming ZimPost properties around the country into state-of-the-art information kiosks.
