ZANU PF says it is buoyed by high turnout and enthusiastic support from party members, affiliates and other stakeholders for the Constitutional Amendment Bill No 3.
The Constitutional Amendment Bill seeks to refine governance structures in line with the country’s developmental aspirations under Vision 2030.
Key provisions are expected to enhance administrative efficiency, strengthen institutional alignment, and ensure policy continuity in the implementation of long-term national programmes.
Before the parliamentary public hearings, the ruling party conducted nationwide awareness campaigns and mobilised supporters to attend the hearings to endorse the proposed changes
Zanu PF Director for Information and Publicity Cde Farai Marapira highlighted that the party maintained the strong public outpouring of support at the public hearings, vindicating its position.
“As a party, we feel vindicated by the strong public outpouring of support at the hearings, while dissenting voices were present and we acknowledge them, the majority clearly carried the day,” stressed Cde Marapira.
He commended all the provincial structures for their overwhelming support during the public hearings.
Cde Marapira encouraged those who did not take part during the public hearings to submit written submissions regarding the Constitution Amendment No. 3 Bill to the Parliament of Zimbabwe by May 17 this year.
Submissions, he said, can be emailed or delivered to the Parliament building in Mt Hampden, following the conclusion of public hearings held between March 30 and early April 2026
“We encourage those who could not attend the hearings to submit their comments through the platforms provided by Parliament via email or hand delivery to the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden. Every voice counts, and our support should be reflected across all communication channels,” he said.
He stated that the entire party structure supports the Bill.
“The entirety of the Party was behind the Bill. “Messages of fractures and divisions within the party are the wishful thoughts of detractors who hope and pray to see a fractured party. All members are pulling in one direction,” said Cde Marapira.
Meanwhile, Zanu PF Harare Provincial Political Commissar Cde Voyage Dambuza commended party members for coming out in large numbers during the just-ended Constitutional Amendment No 3 Bill public hearings.
“I want to thank our members who came out in their numbers to attend the Constitution Amendment Bill No. 3 hearing held by the Parliament of Zimbabwe,” he said.
“I am grateful for the overwhelming support they showed for the bill. We are happy that most of the people were for the bill,” he said.
“Those who were unable to attend the public hearings due to work commitments are urged to support the bill by handing over their submissions to the Parliament or emailing the office.”
He highlighted that the bill creates a more coordinated Government system, enhances stability, and ensures that developmental programmes are implemented without unnecessary disruption.
“We are going to 2030 with our President, because he has demonstrated leadership and the ability to deliver for Zimbabwe,” he said
Elections, he said, have been divisive, with those who lost elections refusing to accept the outcome of the results.
“Even during public hearings, while most expressed support for the Bill, some opposed it. Nevertheless, the will of the majority must prevail over the will of the minority.”
The amendments, which include extending presidential and parliamentary terms from five to seven years, are crucial for fostering long-term development, policy continuity, and saving resources by reducing frequent election cycles.
