ZANU PF Harare province restructures

ZANU PF Harare Province is undertaking a comprehensive restructuring initiative, focusing on rebuilding and strengthening its organisational framework from the cell level upwards.

The current phase involves holding elections in the party’s foundational cell structures. Following elections for cell structures, the province plans to set up branch structures, districts, and District Coordinating Committee structures.

ZANU PF Harare Province political commissar, Cde Voyage Dambuza, said the bottom-up approach would result in the rebuilding and strengthening of the ruling party’s organisational framework from the grassroots.

“In terms of the restructuring exercise, we are almost through with our cell structures, a process where we are mobilising members to be in our cells. We are now going to conduct cell elections to establish leadership at every cell.”

The next phase will involve branch elections, with each district consisting of five branches.

Each branch will comprise approximately 132 members, making it a vital part of the district’s membership base.

Cde Dambuza explained, “We will be deploying teams from the province, including members from the war veterans, women’s league, youth league, and the main wing, to assist the current district executive in creating branch executives.”

The ruling party, Cde Dambuza revealed, will implement the “Fishers of Men” programme, coordinated by the National Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha. This initiative aims to engage communities and attract new members.

“We are going around communities to encourage membership and distribute membership cards,” he noted.

“We will leverage the current political landscape to maximise our support.”

Cde Dambuza emphasised the importance of community engagement, stating that ZANU PF intends to capitalise on the opposition’s challenges to gain as much support as possible.

Every year, the ruling party embarks on a cell verification exercise to account for its membership, both old and new. The move seeks to take stock of the party’s membership in line with its constitutional dictates.
