Zanu-PF Harare Provincial Women’s League executive and party supporters yesterday visited the family of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo, to comfort it following the death of their daughter Zanele.

Zanele (20) was fourth child in the Moyo family.

She was a Political Science, International Relations and Gender Studies student at the University of Cape Town. She was found dead in her apartment last month.

Women’s League Harare Province chairperson, Cde Joyce Kasinamunda said the executive and other women decided to spend time with the Moyo family as a way of showing support during the difficult time.

“We attended the funeral but since it is difficult for a mother to lose a child, we saw it necessary that we return and comfort our loved one.

“The Moyo family is very important and Mrs Beatrice Moyo is expected to care for the family. She needs support for her to continue with the family duties,” she said.

Cde Kasinamunda expressed concern over the news that Zanele was buried without her heart.

She said this renewed the wounds and further caused pain to the family and the Women’s League.

“Several Zimbabweans have died in South Africa and we are given instructions to just bury them without conducting body viewing and I wonder if these people were buried with all their body parts,” she said.

Cde Kasinamunda urged the Moyo family to continue praying and urged other members of the Women’s League to pray for them.

zanu-pf national commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere’s wife, Barbara, said Zanele’s death had raised many questions than answers.

“I want to thank the Women’s League for their gesture. After the funeral, you have continued to support the Moyo family. We have so many questions but we may never get some answers. We will just leave it to God,” she said.

Moyo family spokesperson, Mrs Catherine Mungate said the family was humbled by the support it got from relatives and friends including zanu-pf party members.
