Zanu PF in targeted mobilisation blitz

THE ZANU PF Harare province is embarking on cell or polling station-based voter mobilisation to canvass grassroots support and deliver resounding victory for the ruling party in the forthcoming August 23 harmonised elections.

The party has set up 3 500 teams to undertake the support mobilisation drive.

This came out of a provincial party meeting held in Chitungwiza yesterday.

Provincial chairperson Cde Goodwills Masimirembwa urged the campaigning teams to work diligently.

“We want to fish from the opposition’s pond,” he said.

“We have set up our teams to make sure we reach out to the electorate at the grassroots.”

He urged the teams to campaign peacefully.

“President Mnangagwa is on record calling for peace, before, during and after elections,” he added.

“You need to campaign peacefully.

“We don’t want any form of violence.”

More than 300 members of opposition party Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) defected to ZANU PF during the meeting.

Politburo member Cde Charles Tavengwa called on party supporters to come out in their numbers and vote for ZANU PF.

“We expect not less than six million votes for ZANU PF and President Mnangagwa,” he said.

Harare province Women’s League chairperson Cde Ratidzo Mukarati urged women to aggressively mobilise support for the party.

“Women constitute the biggest chunk of voters, hence we need to come out in our numbers and vote for ZANU PF,” she said.

Harare Youth League chairperson Cde Emmanuel Mahachi urged new voters to cast ballots for the party.

The meeting was attended by the local party leadership.
