Mthabisi Tshuma recently at Mlomwe, Bulilima
THE ruling party Zanu PF in Bulilima district launched a music competition of revolutionary party songs at Mlomwe Business Centre on Saturday, aiming to ensure full participation by party members.
The competition, initiated by the Women’s League, will see all 22 wards in Bulilima district performing renditions of the party’s revolutionary songs or creating new compositions.
On Saturday, the first round featured four wards competing for the top prize. High Ladies from Mlomwe ward emerged victorious, followed by 2030 from Figtree ward, with Somnene and Tjankwa wards securing third and fourth places respectively.
The first prize winner walked away with R2000, while the second-place winner received R1000. The third-place winner was awarded R500, and the fourth-place winner took home R200.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Bulilima DCC chairperson Cde Felix Ncube, DCC secretary for finance Cde Innocent Mavunela, DCC secretary for security Cde Japhet Nyoni, DCC secretary for transport and welfare Cde Philasande Malinga Ndlovu, Zanu PF Tjankwa Ward shadow councillor Cde Kossam Ndlovu, and officials from Bulilima Constituency office, including Cde Nkosilathi Sibanda, Cde Martin Moyo, Cde Linda Moyo, and Cde Obvious Phuti.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Zanu PF Mlomwe Ward shadow councillor Cde Judith Ncube said the competition is meant to instil a sense of pride in the ruling party.
“The music competition is meant to ensure that our party songs do not fade away but should grow in different languages as per what a certain community speaks.
“We are going to spread the competition to other wards in Bulilima district before we also compete with our neighbours in Mangwe district, as we prepare for the event to be hosted at provincial and national levels,” said Cde Ncube.
