ZANU PF yesterday launched a roadshow campaign rally in Ward 6, Epworth North Constituency, having registered 5,890 voters who are ready to cast their ballots in the upcoming by-elections scheduled for August 2.

The by-elections will pit Zanu PF candidate Cde Civilised Bushe against Alice Nyahunzvi from MDC-T and independent candidate Peter Nyapetwa.

To secure a decisive victory, the Zanu Harare provincial executive, along with the women’s league, war veterans wing and youth league, are taking their campaign strategy to the streets and doorsteps across Ward 6 in Epworth to ensure they win the seat resoundingly.

By-elections are scheduled for August 2, as the ruling party aims to reclaim the local authority seat that has been under opposition control since 2000.

Speaking at a rally at Kubatana Primary School grounds, Zanu PF provincial chairman Cde Godwills Masimirembwa emphasised that the party will leave no stone unturned in their efforts to reclaim the seat.

“We have deployed our campaign teams in the ward. Our aim is to encourage all registered voters to support Zanu PF. So far, our campaign teams have registered 5,890 voters,” stated Cde Masimirembwa.

Zanu PF takes the upcoming elections seriously, according to Cde Masimirembwa, who emphasised the party’s commitment to implementing people-centred projects.

“What we are witnessing here is that services are available to the people, boreholes are being drilled, roads are being constructed and scholarships are being provided here in ward 6. All systems are in place to ensure development is taking place in the area,” he said.

He criticised the self-serving opposition for causing significant suffering among the electorate.

“We have channelled substantial resources toward road rehabilitation and borehole drilling to ensure access to clean water. Currently, the Epworth community is receiving free medical treatment through the Nurse Aid for Economic Development program,” he stated.

Cde Masimirembwa praised President Mnangagwa for his inspirational leadership and the vision for 2030, which aligns with the mantra of “leaving no one and no place behind.”

He expressed confidence that the by-elections were merely a formality and that Zanu PF was focused on winning with a substantial margin to demonstrate that Harare Province will never be the same again.
