ZANU PF’s Mashonaland East Province is set to launch a crucial cell verification exercise aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structures.
This initiative is designed to solidify the foundation of the revolutionary party, ensuring its resilience and unity within the political landscape.
The verification exercise will take place from June 19 to June 25, 2025. This announcement was made during a provincial coordination committee meeting held at the party’s provincial offices in Marondera over the weekend.
Cde Andy Mhlanga, the national deputy secretary for Economic Affairs, highlighted the significance of establishing authentic cell structures.
He said the exercise will be led by Central Committee members who will not operate in their home districts to prevent attempts to personalise the structures.
“The exercise will use computerised data capturing for easy access and verification of all party cell data,” Mhlanga explained.
“We are committed to conducting this exercise thoroughly and accurately.”
Cde Daniel Garwe, the provincial chairman for Mashonaland East, emphasised that the verification process is vital for accurately reflecting the party’s membership.
He expressed gratitude to President Mnangagwa for endorsing this initiative, noting that it will clarify the party’s true membership landscape.
“This programme will give us a true reflection of who is who in terms of ZANU PF membership,” Garwe stated.
He further added that the party is embracing digital transformation in line with Vision 2030, enabling members to verify information swiftly and efficiently.
Cde Mabel Chinomona, the National Chairperson of the ZANU PF Women’s League, reinforced the need for building authentic party cell structures.
She encouraged unity among members and urged them to welcome new supporters, regardless of their previous voting choices.
“Let us work towards bringing more people to the ruling party and build real cell structures,” she said. “These cells are the anchors of the party and have a significant impact on elections.”
The upcoming cell verification exercise represents a strategic effort by Zanu PF to enhance its grassroots organisation and ensure a solid foundation for future electoral success.
As the party prepares for this important initiative, the emphasis on unity, transparency, and digital integration reflects its commitment to adapting to contemporary political dynamics while remaining rooted in its core values.
