George Maponga in Masvingo
The Zanu PF leadership in Masvingo has embarked on a week-long exercise to train leaders across the province’s seven administrative districts on procedures of instituting disciplinary action against errant cadres as part of a new thrust to ensure discipline in the party.
The party’s provincial leadership wants to devolve powers to conduct discpliary hearings against members who violate the party’s constitution to leaders at the grassroots to ensure the party remains solid with cadres grounded in discipline.
Açcording to the ruling party’s provincial secretary for the commissariat, Cde Brian Munyoro the move is being done in the spirit of devolution which, at Government level as engendered development from bottom to the top.
Cde Munyoro said the training started in Chiredzi and will move to Zaka and Bikita this week until all the remaining districts are covered.
“We want our lower-tier levels in the grassroots across the province to be conversant with how to institute disciplinary procedures because we want to give them the power to conduct hearings for errant members. We don’t want all disciplinary cases to be brought before the provincial leadership. Some of these cases should just be handled at local level,” said Cde Munyoro.
Zanu PF has remained a solid entity in Masvingo where the party remains the undisputed dominant force in the political arena as evidenced by a good showing in the August harmonised polls.
