THE Zanu PF Youth League in Matabeleland South Province on Thursday took part in three successful campaigns in Mangwe District in a bid to reclaim the Ward 12 council seat.
The council seat fell vacant following the death of an opposition councillor in August.
For the last 20 years, the council seat has been in the hands of the opposition,
Cde Benjamin Ndlovu is the ruling party candidate in the 25 October by-elections.
The campaigns by the ruling party were held at Danangombe, Mapulula and Macingwana villages.
The youthful leadership was led by Matabeleland South Youth Quota Legislator Cde Tinashe Mushipe.
Also part of the delegation was Young Women for ED national coordinator Ms Sithabile Gandi-Ndlovu, who is also Zanu PF Matabeleland South Secretary for Transport and Welfare, Zanu PF Matabeleland South Youth League Secretary for Finance Cde Lulwamani Nleya, Zanu PF Matabeleland South Youth League Political Commissar Cde Lance Phiri, Zanu PF Matabeleland South Secretary for ICT Mlungisi Ncube, Zanu PF Matabeleland South Secretary for Disabled Memory Nyathi, Zanu PF Matabeleland South Secretary for Legal Affairs Cde Thabo Ndebele and a member of the youth league, Cde Portia Moyo.
The donations included mealie meal, cooking oil, sugar, bathing soap, washing soap and pads.
Cde Gandi-Ndlovu said the donations are testament of the vision by the youths to ensure a better life for the generation.
“I didn’t just come today with promises from a distant office, we come to you as a child of the ward, your sister, a partner, as a fellow young person who understands both the struggles and the immense potential that resides in our community.
“The pads and soap we have donated today are not merely items. In the hands of our girl child, they are tools of dignity. They are building blocks for confidence. They are a clear message to every young girl in this ward: We see you. We value you. And we are committed to ensuring that nothing, not even a natural biological process, stands in the way of your education, your dreams, and your potential. When a girl misses school because she cannot afford sanitary wear, we all lose. We lose a future leader, a future nurse, a future entrepreneur, a future engineer,” said Cde Gandi-Ndlovu.
She said the ZANUPF Youth League understands that investing in the girl child is not a charity.
“It is a strategic investment in the very foundation of our province’s future. This simple act today is a symbol of our broader campaign’s philosophy. It’s about tangible, meaningful change. It’s about leadership that listens and responds to your real, everyday needs,” said Cde Gandi-Ndlovu.
Cde Mushipe said youths have the mandate to safeguard the wins of the revolutionary party.
“We are here today to make sure that our candidate Ndlovu wins resoundingly. As youths we have a role to play. Our fathers, mothers, grandparents fought for your freedom.
“It is our duty to ensure that those gains remain in place,” said Cde Mushipe.
