Zanu-PF ministers urged to stay in touch with constituencies

Addressing party supporters at the Webster Shamu Netball and Soccer annual trophy tournament at Selous Sports Club yesterday, Cde Khaya Moyo said Zanu-PF wanted ministers who contribute meaningfully to their constituencies.
“If you are a minister who doesn’t listen to your constituencies then you are insignificant. We want MPs who are always in touch with their people,” he said.

“Ministers have to know that Government is a product of the party and time will come when we will recall people from Government if they fail. We want Ministers like Cde (Webster) Shamu who come back to their constituencies than people who are always bragging about being ministers.”
Cde Khaya Moyo urged youths to take sport seriously because it had become an industry where people can eke out a living.

He said sport was a unifier which people could bring people together from different backgrounds.
“If you take sport seriously you can be anywhere in the world. Youths are the future of this country in all disciplines, be it sports or politics. We want youths with a healthy mind and body. If you are always drinking beer you are a liability to the country and the community,” he said.

Speaking at the same occasion, Minister Shamu’s wife, Cde Constance Shamu said the youths were supposed to take such tournaments seriously because there would be scouts to take them to bigger teams.

“What is important is the establishment of relations so that you can be identified so that your talents can be nurtured. You can have a living out of sport which is a very important discipline as long you remain disciplined,” she said.
In a men’s soccer final pitting Saruwe and Chambare, the former won by four goals to two after a penalty shootout. The teams had been deadlocked one-all during regulation time.

The winners pocketed US$500 while the losers went away with US$250.
In a women’s netball final, Chabvaruka beat Chambare and got US$500 while the losers got US$250.

Dynamos secretary Nyika Chifamba, Assistant Coach Tichaona Dhiya and striker Murape Murape, Highfield United technical manager Wilson Mutekede graced the tournament.
