Zanu PF MP donates to Mutare prison

Zanu PF Manicaland women’s quota representative and chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio on Women’s Affairs, Community and SME Development Cde Getrude Mutandi has donated food and sanitary wear to inmates at Mutare Remand Prison.

Speaking at the donation, Cde Mutandi said the initiative was part of those genuinely complementing efforts and initiatives of the Second Republic under the visionary leadership of President Mnangagwa to make a difference in people’s lives.

Cde Mutandi said the famous dictum of President Mnangagwa that “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” needs to be qualified by realising that “we are the people or ‘vene’ he always refers to and uplifting each other is part of that rebuilding process of Zimbabwe”.

“I am proud to have donated food and sanitary wear to this facility. These basic necessities are often overlooked, yet they are essential for maintaining physical and mental well-being. This is my reminder to you the inmates that the people of Zimbabwe and more importantly the Government of President Emmerson Mnangagwa still value you.

“President Mnangagwa is not dissuaded by your circumstances because circumstances do not define your worth. You are more than your current situation, and you deserve a second chance,” she said.

She had a rare opportunity of serving the President and immensely benefiting from his mentorship and passion in the reconstruction of the beautiful country Zimbabwe.

“The vision of valuing people above everything else has been amplified by our First Lady Dr Auxilia Mnangagwa, who has exhibited the virtues of the mother of the nation through her indelible philanthropic works that have become a source of inspiration for many first ladies all over the world,” she said.
