ZANU PF will convene a Politburo and Central Committee meetings on Wednesday and Thursday respectively as the party intensifies preparations for the 23rd National People’s Conference, which will be held in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West province.
Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa confirmed the two meetings in a statement, urging members to be punctual.
“The Secretary General of Zanu PF, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, advises members of a Politburo meeting to be held this Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 10 am, while the Central Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 10 am. Both meetings shall be held at the Zanu PF Headquarters,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
All members are expected to be seated by 9:45 am sharp.
The meetings come as the party intensifies preparations for the 23rd National’s People’s Conference.
The conference will be held from October 12 to 17 with 7 000 delegates expected to grace the event.
In terms of resource mobilisation, there will be a Presidential Fundraising Dinner for the business community meant to raise US$6 million.
Zanu PF has embarked on a comprehensive review of its constitution to align the party’s founding document with recent amendments to the national Constitution.
The proposed changes are expected to be tabled at the ruling party’s National People’s Conference in Chinhoyi next month.
The review, which is being undertaken by the party’s Legal Standing Committee with technical assistance from Government departments, including the Attorney-General’s Office, is also intended to simplify the party’s constitution so that it can be easily understood by ordinary members.
Zanu PF Secretary for Legal Affairs Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi, who is also Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, said the review was being undertaken following a resolution by the party membership to align its constitution with changes introduced through the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Act.
“The review of the Zanu PF Constitution was one of the resolutions passed by the membership to align it with amendments effected through Constitution Amendment No. 3,” he said.
Cde Ziyambi also said the party had resolved that President Mnangagwa would remain its presidential candidate whenever the next Congress is convened.
