ZANU PF will deal decisively with gatecrashers through the introduction of mandatory ICT-linked membership cards to avoid infiltration.
According to the Central Committee report, the establishment of an electronic database coupled with the roll out of electronic party cards will be a continuous process and will ensure that all party members are registered.
“This will be followed by a mandatory procedure of production of these party cards during any party activities to avoid non-party members gatecrashing such gatherings. This move towards digitalisation of the party process is a milestone which will be replicated as we refine our professionalisation of the party,” reads the report. Digital development in the 4th Industrial Revolution has redirected the party to adopt applicable technological advancements, reads the report in part.
In this regard the party has made strenuous efforts to have all Zanu PF members access the electronic membership card across all the provinces.
The drive is meant to establish the legal and authentic membership of the party, raise funds through subscription fees and also unlock the economic value of genuine members.
The Zanu PF electronic card is also linked to the ZimSwitch platform and can be used or swiped to buy anything as long as it has money credited in it.
In a related development, the party is also installing tracking systems on all party vehicles and those assigned these vehicles breaking road and safety regulations, or trying to bully their way through tollgates without paying, or engaged in other activities that goes against the policy of servant leadership, will have their vehicles withdrawn.
This comes following reports that some members of the party had been abusing their membership to solicit for exemption from paying toll fees.
