ZANU PF remains the sole vehicle for accelerated development that will spur the country to a better future, riding on prudent policies that continue to transform the quality of life for ordinary people as envisaged by the National Development Strategy 2, President Mnangagwa has said.
He said the revolutionary party’s several policies, particularly in agriculture, had since registered milestones like a record wheat harvest, while the party continued to pursue projects that guaranteed returns from the country’s endowments.
President Mnangagwa, who is also Zanu PF First Secretary, said this yesterday, while addressing the 129th Ordinary Session of the ruling party’s Central Committee in Harare yesterday.
“We remain the only vehicle for the accelerated realisation of lasting socio-economic growth and a brighter prosperous future for our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe. Our policies continue to transform the quality of life of our people. We are building our motherland, brick-by-brick, stone-upon-stone and step-by-step,” said the President.
He commended farmers for their sterling efforts in agriculture, both in terms of record wheat output and development of seed varieties.
“I commend our farmers and stakeholders in the agriculture sector for yet another record-breaking harvest in the 2025 winter wheat cropping season. In addition, the break-through recorded in the development of seed varieties for the local cultivation of hard wheat, is applauded,” said President Mnangagwa.
“Guided by the regular updates and information issued through the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development, let us take advantage of the ongoing wet spell to produce more, for enhanced food and nutrition security at both household and national levels.”
The President also said agriculture inputs must be distributed equitably.
“The distribution of inputs, chemicals, fertilisers and other forms of support is ongoing and must reach all the rightful beneficiaries.
“In our quest to climate proof the agriculture sector and strengthen food systems, I was pleased to commission modern-smart digitally-enabled Grain Silos in Kwekwe and Mutare,” said President Mnangagwa.
“Similarly, the Cut-Rag Tobacco Processing Plant here in Harare is set to see the increased value addition and beneficiation of tobacco.
“Such initiatives are ensuring that the increased production and productivity across the agriculture sector is appropriately stored, value added and beneficiated.”
He said the Government’s policies guaranteed returns predicated on the country’s natural resources endowment.
“Our policies will continue to advance projects that guarantee maximum returns from our rich local resources. On the macro-economic front, we are deepening fiscal discipline, while enhancing key enablers to consolidate ongoing economic growth and transformation. Through an array of measures, our 2025 economic growth is projected at 6.6 percent,” said President Mnangagwa.
He said the Government’s mantra that “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” was bearing fruit given that several foreign entities continue to regard the country as an investment destination.
“In responding to our mantra “Zimbabwe is open for business”, the prevailing business operating environment and growing economy; it is encouraging that reputable domestic, continental and international entities are choosing our country as a safe investment destination,” said President Mnangagwa.
“As the leadership, it is my expectation that we take a keen interest on the ongoing developments in our economic space, particularly on investments, trade and partnerships, while preparing communities, in readiness for the successful roll out of intended projects.”
He said the country efforts to produce goods and services locally will result in self-reliance in many economic facets.
“After all, our own capacity to locally manufacture goods and products will strengthen economic emancipation and ongoing quest to be masters of our own destiny,” he said.
Road and dam construction remain one of the country’s top priorities to attain prosperity.
“Infrastructure development, particularly road and dam construction, remains one of our strategic priorities.
“The construction of key flag ship dams, which include Gwayi-Shangani and Kunzvi is progressing well. The levels completed to date, demonstrate the promise of ZANU PF to transform the economy and the livelihoods of our people The ongoing projects throughout the country are a reflection of our Party’s vision for national development,” he said.
Last week, the President launched NDS2, an economic blueprint meant to ensure fiscal consolidation and enhance economic growth.
Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube unveiled the 2026 National Budget last week that was anchored on Zanu PF Annual National People’s Conference resolutions, thus cementing the revolutionary party as a people-centred party.
