ZANU PF is targeting to mobilise US$500 000 for its 23rd Annual National People’s Conference, which will be held in October in Mashonaland West province.

Each province is expected to raise US$50 000 and five beasts towards the upkeep of delegates.

The main event will be held at Chinhoyi University of Technology. Zanu PF Treasury General Cde Patrick Chinamasa has directed all provinces to raise the required amount to make the conference a success.

In a circular read on his behalf by Harare provincial Secretary for Finance, Cde Martin Mambo, Cde Chinamasa said all provinces should raise the required amount by the end of August to ensure a successful conference.

Speaking at a Zanu PF Harare Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting yesterday, the party’s Harare provincial chairman, Cde Godwills Masimirembwa, said they had set up a fundraising committee to meet the required target.

“We are expecting to raise more than US$100 000 for the conference. The province will also raise more than five tonnes to feed delegates,” said Cde Masimirembwa.

Zanu PF has stepped up preparations for the conference, which will focus on the state of the economy and the party.

Cde Masimirembwa highlighted that the party had intensified resource mobilisation for the high-profile gathering, with emphasis placed on transparency throughout the process.

“We want to be the best province in terms of resource mobilisation for the conference”, he said.

Speaking at the same meeting, Harare provincial political commissar Cde Voyage Dambuza said the meeting was also meant to educate party members about the coming National Cell Day.

“The cell is the spine of the party structure; hence, we need our members to come up with a proper register.

“We need to work hard to improve party membership. We are a province with over 3 million members.

“As a party, we need to mobilise people as much as we can. We must win at least 16 constituencies,” he said.

Cde Dambuza urged affiliate organisations to bring in new members to the party.
