Zanu-PF starts restructuring in Masvingo province

prepare for possible general elections likely end of this year.
Party provincial chairman Cde Lovemore Matuke said the Zanu-PF provincial co-ordinating conference had met over the weekend and given, the thumbs up to the resumption of restructuring exercise that will see the cells, branches and districts being revamped.

Cde Matuke yesterday said the restructuring of district structures would culminate in the holding of a Zanu PF inter-district conference in July this year.
“We have started the restructuring of our party’s cells and branches across the province and our main objective is to make sure that we re-invigorate our structures starting from the grassroots before we move up to the district structures,” said Cde Matuke.

“This is a routine restructuring exercise that we are carrying out but we also have one eye in elections which our national leadership have said will be held this year.”
The Zanu-PF provincial chairman stressed that the former liberation movement was guided by the party leader President Mugabe that elections will be held this year hence the move to restructure the party.

“We do not want to be caught flat-footed in the event that election dates are announced so the restructuring exercise is also aimed at making sure that Zanu-PF is geared for elections whenever they are called for.
“After restructuring at the cells and branch levels we will then move on to the district level before we hold our inter-district conference at the end of July this year,” he said.

Cde Matuke said the leadership focus at the moment was to restore the party’s dominance in Masvingo province that was disturbed by the MDC-T in the 2008 harmonised elections.
There have been incessant calls for the Zanu-PF leadership in Masvingo to re-invigorate the party.
Zanu-PF national chairman, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, on a recent visit to Masvingo, challenged the party leadership in the province to make sure they reclaim the 14 parliamentary seats that went to MDC-T.
