before the end of this month to strengthen itself ahead of the harmonised elections set for early next year.
The audit will follow a restructuring exercise that is expected to start soon.
Party provincial chairman, Ambassador Amos Midzi, said in an interview after an inter-district co-ordinating committee meeting yesterday, that the party wanted to make sure structures were in place.
“This meeting was intended at galvanising the leadership at district to cell levels to make sure the party is strong at the grassroots,” said Cde Midzi. “We want to make sure structures are in place and are functional. We want the list (of members) from the audit to be reflected on the ground during elections.”
Cde Midzi said the provincial leadership was convinced that the party would win the seats that had been claimed by the MDC-T in previous elections.
He said the province was united and focused on defeating the enemy during the forthcoming elections.
Addressing the delegates to the inter-district co-ordinating committee meeting, war veterans leader Cde Jabulani Sibanda, said there was need for the cadres to jealously guard the gains of the liberation struggle.
“If a dog can guard a home from the enemy, then why can’t we cadres protect the gains of the liberation?” he said.

The meeting was attended by Zanu-PF leaders from the cells and districts in Harare.
Some politburo members, including Cde Tendai Savanhu and Cde Charles Tavengwa, were also part of the delegates.
Meanwhile, the party’s members in Mabvuku-Tafara district were urged to remain focused and united for the forthcoming elections.
Speaking at the District Co-ordinating Committee DCC5 rally held in Tafara, Zanu-PF central committee member, Cde Onisimo Banda, said there was need to update party structures.
“We should be resolute since we all know what is going on in this area and we are people sharing the same beliefs and political affiliation,” said Cde Banda.
“There is need for us to be in unison rather than to remain fragmented for reasons unknown to us and we wish to have the votes that we lost in the previous elections.”
The rally coincided with the unveiling of the Godwills Masimirembwa Trust meant to help the underprivileged people in Mabvuku and Tafara.
The Trust also intends to revive the night school at Mabvuku High School that was stopped in 2009 following constant electricity outages. Upcoming projects include provision of funds for those willing to start businesses in selling clothes and vegetables.
Boreholes will be drilled and drugs will be procured for clinics in the suburbs.
