A Harare man has appeared in court for allegedly bashing a man who was wearing a Zanu PF T-shirt.

Gilmond David appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi last week charged with assault. He was granted $30 000 bail and was ordered to report twice a fortnight at Marlborough Police Station.

The matter was remanded to June 8.

The State alleges that on April 2, at Mugutu Farm compound, the complainant Mr Dosman Piko was wearing a ZANU PF T-Shirt and was ordered by David to remove it, but he refused.

Later on, David’s son Sharon David aged 14, met Mr Piko still wearing the same T-Shirt, and kicked him.

This resulted in Mr Piko falling down.

Sharon then picked half a brick and struck him several times on the face.

His father, Gilmond, then came in and struck Mr Piko on the face too, with a brick and kicked him on the chest.

Mr Piko sustained injuries on the face and had to visit the hospital for medical treatment.
