Zanu PF takes Covid-19 vaccination to farms

Zanu PF Marondera district has taken the vaccination drive to farms and resettlement areas to promote the mass vaccination programme in high-risk areas.

This comes after the Government is targeting to reach herd immunity.

Speaking during vaccination of Maganga villagers in Marondera East, Zanu PF district coordinating committee secretary for health Cde Rodwel Makoni said there was low uptake of vaccines in rural areas due to long distance that people have to travel to reach the vaccination points.

“We had challenges in reaching out to people in parts of farms and rural resettlement around Marondera where some of the rural people are not yet coming in for vaccines,” he said.

“We have decided to partner with the Ministry of Health and Child care to bring vaccines to the farms and rural resettlement areas.”

Cde Makoni urged vaccinated people to encourage those who were yet to get vaccinated to take advantage of the programme.

“We want to attain herd immunity and protect our communities,” he said. “We do not want anyone left behind, that is why we are here in farms and rural resettlement areas.”

The villagers hailed the vaccination programme, saying they could not travel to clinics due to long distances.
Mrs Martha Machingura (34) said they were willing to be vaccinated.

“We were willing to be vaccinated, but due long distances we were left with no option,” she said. “Now we are happy that we were vaccinated and we going to encourage others to be vaccinated.”
