ZANU-PF will review salaries and working conditions of civil servants once it wins the 31 July harmonised elections as expected, the National Chairman, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, said yesterday. Civil servants have downed tools several times demanding a review of salaries and conditions of service.
Addressing party rallies in Nyele, Ndiweni and Matjinge areas in Bulilima District, Cde Khaya Moyo said Zanu-PF was concerned about the poor salaries for Government workers.

“We are committed to improving the salaries and conditions of service for civil servants. We have over the past four years made several attempts to address this problem but we have failed just because the ministry concerned is under MDC-T leadership,” he said.

He said MDC formations failed to deliver despite the fact that they were allocated key government ministries.
“The MDC parties have been occupying pivotal Ministries such as Education, Finance, Energy and Industry.
“These Ministries are the backbone of the nation’s development,” he said.

Cde Moyo said each time Government wanted to review salaries for civil servants, they were told by Finance Minister Tendai Biti that there was no money.

“If money cannot be used to address challenges such as poor salaries what is it then used for?” he asked.
Cde Khaya Moyo said Zapu leaders should desist from misleading the electorate under the pretext of reviving the revolutionary party.

He said there was no problem in the formation of political parties but urged parties to desist from using names such as Zapu to confuse the electorate.

“These leaders who are saying they are reviving Zapu will never succeed in misleading people. Zapu merged with  Zanu-PF following the signing of the Unity Accord in 1987 and now we have people like Dumiso Dabengwa who want to take advantage of the people by claiming to resuscitate the party.

“The party cannot be resuscitated by someone who was not there when the parties were merged. There is no problem with individuals forming political parties but it becomes a problem if individuals want to create a replica of a revolutionary party such as Zapu for their personal gains,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.

Speaking at the same rallies, Politburo member Cde Richard Ndlovu encouraged party leaders to educate new voters on how to vote to reduce number of spoiled ballots.

“I urge you all party leaders to educate people on how to vote so that we reduce spoiled votes. We want to win resoundingly,” he said.
Cde Khaya Moyo  is holding his last rallies in Bulilima District today at Figtree and Tshankwa areas. He is expected to proceed to Insiza and Umzingwane districts after that.
