ZANU PF has begun campaigns for by- elections for Goromonzi South and Seke constituencies as well as for ward 5, 8 and 10 in Marondera, with the Mashonaland East provincial chairperson Cde Daniel Garwe leading the campaigns.
Yesterday, Cde Garwe accompanied by provincial Women’s League chairperson Cde Aplonia Munzverengwi and other senior party members was in Goromonzi South constituency where they urged everyone to vote for ZANU PF candidate Cde Washington Zhanda.
Before the Goromonzi South constituency campaign, Cde Garwe led the team to Seke constituency where they called for everyone to vote for Cde Munyaradzi Kashambe who will be representing ZANU PF on February 3, 2024.
The seats became vacant after those who had won under the banner of Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) in these constituencies and wards during the harmonised elections were recalled by their interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu recently.
Cde Garwe, in his address, challenged everyone to ensure these seats are won by ZANU PF.
“I want to challenge all of you to make sure that our party ZANU PF wins in all the constituencies. I am aware that there are those who also participated in the just conducted primary elections and could not make it, we are one party so we urge you to continue campaigning for our ZANU PF party.
“Let us vote out our detractors. Those who called for sanctions to be imposed on Zimbabwe should not be voted for. They want us to suffer so that people can vote for them, those people do not love us. So we should not vote for them. Let us vote for ZANU PF, a party with the people at heart,” he said.
Cde Munzverengwi weighed in saying everyone has a role to play and cement ZANU PF victory.
“Anyone with a position in the party from cell level should play his or her part. Do not relax because we want a clean sweep come February by-elections. Be influential and ensure people under you are ZANU PF and will vote for the party’s candidate.”
Cde Munzverengwi called on youths to desist from abusing drugs, saying the nation requires youths who are vibrant, who will take the it forward.
Provincial youth chairman Cde Isaac Tasikani promised to mobilise more youths to come to the party.
He called on his counterparts to always safeguard the revolutionary part and remain obedient, disciplined and peaceful.
Goromonzi South constituency aspiring candidate Cde Washington Zhanda said he is optimistic of winning the seat.
“The party has a lot of support in Goromonzi and we will definitely win. We will continue campaigning and carrying out developmental programmes for the benefit of everyone in the constituency. To all the people, I urge you to vote for the people’s party ZANU PF,” he said.
