ZANU PF national chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has reiterated that the party will peacefully win the forthcoming harmonised elections on August 23.
Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri, who was represented by Politburo member Dr David Parirenyatwa at the election rally in Murehwa, said ZANU PF is a trusted party and people will vote for it in their large numbers.
“This year we are going to hold our harmonised elections, our task has been made easier because we already have bagged 92 local council seats uncontested. We are unstoppable. ZANU PF is invincible, unbeatable, unconquerable.
“ZANU PF is the only political party that can be entrusted with defending our national interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Tisu tine nhoroondo. Our party is driven by its rich revolutionary legacy and people-centred policies.
“This is the party of Chairman Chitepo, of Josiah Tongogara, of Joshua Nkomo. We must defend the revolution at all costs. There is no other party that can relate with the liberation struggle than ZANU PF. Some of these parties are sell-outs. They are busy lobbying for sanctions to make our Government fail. Cumulatively, the Western-inspired sanctions have cost the Zimbabwe economy an estimated US$100 billion over the past 23 years.
“As you can see, there are people in our midst who enjoy the suffering of our people. Soon after announcing that we are going for elections, our detractors resolved to cause problems among our people as demonstrated by recent suspicious price hikes. Some of them are hoarding basic food stuffs to trigger prices. Some are engaging on forward pricing.”
“The strategy is to make our economy scream and separate our revolutionary party from the people. Let me assure you all here present that our enemies are destined to fail because such empty strategies will not intimidate us. We are not daunted by their evil machinations. We are unstoppable.”
She added that the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa will continue to pursue homegrown solutions for the challenges the nation faces.
“Under the wise leadership of our President, Zimbabwe will march forward and continue with a developmental trajectory underpinned by our natural and human resources. Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo. After all, your province, Mashonaland East is richly endowed in agriculture, horticulture, animal and mining produce and has the largest lithium and black granite deposits in the country.
“We will continue to build our country with our own local and God given resources. In the New Dispensation, we have dispensed with the notion that development of developing countries can only be driven by outsiders. This is what makes ZANU PF special. Our revolutionary party always put people first.
“As we go for elections, let us vote out the incompetent opposition.”
She appealed to the Murehwa South constituency to vote for President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF MP Cde Noah Mangondo as well as ruling party councillors.
She added that President Mnangagwa is a tried and tested leader, who has seen it all and has been fighting for this country since the 1960s.
Cde Muchinguri Kashiri said under President Mnangagwa, the country has witnessed tremendous development in all sectors.
Speaking at the same occasion, ZANU PF Mashonaland East Province deputy chairperson Cde Kudzai Majuru, said as a province they will surpass their target.
Aspiring candidate for Murehwa South constituency Cde Noah Mangondo appealed to voters to come out in their numbers and vote for President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF.
