ZANU-PF central committee member, Cde Dingumuzi Phuti, has said the ruling party will not turn its back on wards it lost to the opposition in Bulilima Constituency during the August 23-24 harmonised elections.
Zanu-PF and CCC both have 11 elected councillors in Bulilima Rural District Council with the ruling party having an edge through proportional representation where it got four against CCC’s three.
Ward 20 (Dombodema) is one of the areas that were lost by the ruling party to opposition. Some of the wards include Ward 4 (Nyele), Ward 5 (Matjinge) and Ward 7 (Masendu) among others.
The party’s Dombodema district over the week organised a celebration rally for the victory by Presidential candidate Cde Mnangagwa and Bulilima Constituency parliamentary candidate, Cde Phuti.
President Mnangagwa earned himself a second term after beating opposition CCC leader Mr Nelson Chamisa while Cde Phuti also won the second term.
The rally was held at Dombodema Shopping Centre and was attended by party supporters drawn from Male, Tjehanga, Dombodema, Mnigau and Tjompani villages.
Addressing hundreds of party supporters, Cde Phuti said the party under the wise leadership of President Mnangagwa will continue to implement developmental projects in all areas.
“We should desist from being associated with the enemy as there is nothing developmental that the enemy will do for you. We want to show our love and open heart to the people of Dombodema. If they thought that we were implementing development projects because of our councillor, they were wrong and we want to prove this,” he said.
Cde Phuti said more projects were lined up for the area despite the fact that Zanu-PF lost to the opposition because Government has declared that it will leave no place behind.
He said as the local legislator, he will continue to work with the party’s 2023 local authority candidates to develop Bulilima District.
“The MP is me and today l want to tell you that Bafundi Nleya who was our candidate for this ward will be the one coordinating the work of the MP in the ward. There are boreholes that we have drilled and we will continue drilling more so that we address the water challenges and other challenges faced in the ward,” said Cde Phuti. — @mthabisi_mthire
