Zanu PF Harare provincial leadership has rolled out programmes empowering women across all six zones with poultry projects, sewing initiatives and financial support, marking a significant step towards inclusivity and economic independence.

The revolutionary party Harare provincial chairlady, Cde Barbara Mwale, highlighted the achievements for the year, ensuring no woman is left behind in national development.

Speaking to Zimpapers recently, Cde Mwale emphasised that the initiatives expanded poultry projects to all six zones.

She said women received training in chicken rearing, marketing and production.

“We have moved to all zones, from one to six, with initiatives to empower women with domestic animals such as chickens. We sold about 200 000 chickens in Harare,” said Cde Mwale.

She said support has included incubators and sewing machines, enabling women to diversify into tailoring and small-scale manufacturing.

“The incubators were provided through Zanu PF Secretary for the Women’s League, Cde Mabel Chinomona, from the President, His Excellency Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa,” she said.

“Through this protocol, we were also able to launch sewing machines, 10 in each zone.”

Cde Mwale said the incubators have allowed the poultry initiative to spread further, with thousands of chicks distributed to sustain growth.

“The incubator has passed other chicks to other zones as we expand the chicken poultry initiative.”

“We gave out more than 2 000 chicks as we expanded the programme.”

She emphasised that women’s groups had received financial support through savings and lending clubs.

“We were able to give three zones $1 500 and $1 000 to the other three zones. This ensured circulation of money within women as a collective role, ensuring the restoration of the country’s cultural heritage,” said Cde Mwale.

She said the initiatives also engaged first-time voters and mobilised women to join the party.

She said this ensures inclusivity in national progress.

“No woman should be left behind; they should be part of the national development.”
