THE Zanu PF Women’s League is intensifying efforts to empower their constituency across Zimbabwe to set up their own businesses by providing essential tools and inputs such as incubators, sewing machines and clothing materials.
Yesterday, the league handed over 2 000 metres of clothing material at Dombo raMwari in Epworth and Mai Musodzi Hall in Mbare, both in Harare Metropolitan, reinforcing its commitment to women’s economic independence.
The initiative is part of a broader national empowerment campaign, which includes distributing incubators across all 10 provinces to support poultry production businesses.
Building on last year’s distribution of chicks, this programme aims to enhance women’s capacity to generate sustainable income, paving the way for their economic independence.
Zanu PF Women’s League Secretary for External Affairs Cde Betty Kaseke, who spoke on behalf of the league’s Secretary Cde Mabel Chinomona, said it was important to support women.
“We have handed over 2 000 metres of clothing material here in Harare province. This initiative fulfils President Mnangagwa’s aspiration to ensure no one and no place is left behind. We want women to be economically capacitated and self-reliant.”
Cde Kaseke encouraged women to seize empowerment initiatives rolled out by the Government and the ruling party.
The League aims to supply not only clothing material, but also materials for school uniforms, church regalia, and traditional African attire.
Zanu PF Harare provincial chairlady, Cde Babra Mwale, said the League will continue supporting empowerment programmes aligned with Vision 2030 of an empowered upper-middle-income society.
“The Zanu PF Government is fostering a conducive environment for you to showcase your potential while enriching communities to advance the national development agenda,” she said.
Cde Mwale also took the opportunity to rally support for Cde Civilised Ushe in the upcoming local authority by-election.
“We must come out in our numbers and vote for the Zanu PF candidate. Supporting our party is essential for securing more empowerment programmes,” she said.
Recent victories in by-elections have bolstered Zanu PF’s position, highlighting the party’s commitment to development and community engagement.
Highlighting the importance of unity among women, Cde Mwale urged them to refrain from undermining one another.
“We must take the lead in ensuring broad empowerment across all aspects of life,” she said.
The projects launched by the League are expected to economically empower women while contributing significantly to Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development.
