ZANU-PF Bulawayo Women’s League has received fabric to produce 12 000 face masks to help curb Covid-19 infections.
President Mnangagwa, the First Secretary and President of the ruling party gave Bulawayo provincial chairperson Cde Rebecca Manjere material for the production of masks in Harare.
Speaking during a meeting at Davies Hall yesterday, Cde Manjere said the masks will be distributed to the public for free.
“To protect people from the pandemic, we received material from President Mnangagwa to produce face masks and distribute them for free.
“He supported us from the time the pandemic started through his visionary empowerment programmes that equipped many women with income generating projects.”
Cde Manjere said the production of masks among other projects will help women to stay strong during the economic challenges which have worsened due to the pandemic.
“We are grateful to President Mnangagwa for the leadership and the encouragement that he gives us, which helps us to work towards the development of this country,” she said.
Cde Manjere said Bulawayo residents would have more reusable masks as more will be made available.
In an interview, Bulawayo district chairlady Cde Constance Ndlovu said the mask production drive would help to curb the coronavirus.
“Production of these masks will keep us busy as we are fighting against Covid-19.
“We will give the material to our MPs who will help us financially to carry out this task which was given to the women’s league,” she said.
Zanu-PF Deputy Secretary for Production at national level Cde Mollina Dube said some people cannot buy masks so the project will help to keep them safe from the global pandemic.
“We are grateful to our leaders and Zanu-PF Secretary for Women’s League Cde Mabel Chinomona for helping us acquire material to produce masks and give to the masses for free,” she said. — @michieroxy
