Zanu PF youth urged to maintain discipline

AHEAD of Munhumutapa Day commemorations slated for September 15, Zanu PF Women League’s secretary for External Affairs Cde Betty Nhambu-Kaseke implored the youth to shun drug and substance abuse.

Speaking after handing over an assortment of groceries to Tamuka Foundation Orphanage Centre in Kuwadzana, Cde Kaseke urged the youth to display a high level of discipline.

“The issue of drug and substance abuse is now a cancer in our country, and this initiative aims to protect our children.”

The Government is intensifying efforts to combat drug and substance abuse through strategic initiatives, including a national committee and support centres.

Cde Nhambu-Kaseke said the initiative is noble and highlighted its goal to safeguard children from drug and substance abuse.

The league’s activities reflect a commitment to fostering a safe, drug-free environment for children.

“We are celebrating the Munhumutapa Day this month, which is the day we remember the birthday of President Mnangagwa. For us as the party leadership, we are engaging in charity work as part of giving back to the communities”.

“As we are celebrating the birthday of His Excellency President Mnangagwa, the youth should stay away from drug and substance abuse. They need to pursue their education to prepare for their future,” she said.

As a way of commemorating Munhumutapa Day, which will be held on September 15, the Women’s League is engaging in charity work across the country.

“We are here to donate some foodstuffs to feed the children here at Tatenda Orphanage Centre.

“We are giving back to the communities in line with President Mnangagwa’s mantra, leaving no one and no place behind”, she stated.

The day honours the life and leadership of President Mnangagwa alongside the historical legacy of the Mutapa Empire. Following resolutions from party conferences, the day has seen a push toward formal national statutory recognition.

Celebrations and related activities, such as youth gatherings and community sports events like half marathons, are organised across provinces to mark the occasion.

The month of September marks celebrations for “the Great Munhumutapa Day, the Birthday of President Mnangagwa on the 15th of September.

Mashonaland Central will host this year’s Munhumutapa Day celebrations on September 15, with President Mnangagwa expected to headline the national youth event in Mvurwi.
