The Zanu-PF Youth League embarked in a clean-up campaign at Jerera Growth Point as part of celebrations to mark President Mnangagwa’s victory in the July 30 harmonised poll.
The clean-up was conducted in collaboration with the Environmental Management Agency.
Speaking during the clean-up exercise, Zanu-PF Masvingo’s secretary for security in the Youth League Cde Livison Paradza said their move was testament that young people had high hopes of a better and prosperous Zimbabwe under President Mnangagwa’s administration.
“We are the ones who will inherit the environment as future leaders of this country and it is up to us to play a big role in ensuring that we protect the environment,” he said.
“After noticing a slump in service delivery and deterioration of services under the MDC-dominated councils, we have taken the initiative as the Youth League to embark on a clean-up exercise in line with the ideals of President Mnangagwa, who always advocates good health and a clean environment for citizens.”
Cde Paradza said more clean-up campaigns by the youths would be organised as part of measures to spruce up the sprawling growth point.
Zaka EMA district officer Mrs Rachel Matuvhunye hailed the commitment exhibited by Zanu-PF youths to clean up Jerera Growth Point.
“I am very impressed that these youths have taken their time to help us to maintain a clean environment here at Jerera Growth Point by picking litter and conducting general cleaning along roads and pavements,” she said.
Mrs Matuvhunye pledged to supply more bins at one of the biggest growth points in Masvingo province.
