ZanuPF Matabeleland South prepares for cell building, verification

THE Zanu-PF Matabeleland South Provincial Coordinating Committee met yesterday to prepare for the nationwide cell building and verification exercise scheduled to begin early next week.

Last year Zanu-PF introduced a National Cell Day, which will be celebrated annually to strengthen its grassroots, organisational and mass mobilisation units. This is part of the scaling up of the Revolutionary’s Party’s mass mobilisation strategies as it gears for a resounding victory in the upcoming harmonised elections.

The revolutionary party is on a nationwide drive to mobilise five million votes ahead of the forthcoming harmonised elections this year.

In an interview after the meeting, Zanu-PF Matabeleland South provincial chairman, Cde Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu said they were working on ensuring that cell building and verification was conducted vigorously and with due diligence in the province in order to garner the much-needed support for President Mnangagwa and the Zanu-PF party.

“This was a special PCC meeting called by the National Political Commissar Cde Dr Mike Bimha and we were discussing the roadmap for the organisation of our party structures which is a programme that will be coming to the province. We want to ensure that we effectively prepare for cell building and verification exercise as a province. We want to ensure that our party structures are in good standing and we want to get rid of any mischief that will be creeping in at different levels of the provincial party structure. The PCC will conduct an initial verification process which will then be complemented by the national programme that will come as guided by the National Political Commissar. We will also organise ourselves for the mobilisation of our party members and supporters towards rallying behind our President so that come elections Zanu-PF will win resoundingly in the province,” he said.

Politburo member, Cde Richard Ndlovu said cell building and verification was crucial in ensuring that the party had a solid foundation. He said constant supervision of cells was important to ensure that they were in place and functioning properly.

Cde Ndlovu said as the party goes into the elections, its strength was in the cells. He said as cells were being created the party leadership has to remember that the people at the grassroots were what give the party meaning. Cde Ndlovu said thorough work should be put in creating cells.

“The first organ of the party is the cell or village. They are critical for enhancing our support base and creating the party structures. It’s where we organise our masses. From there we grow up to have the branches and the districts but the principal organ of the party is the cell. That is why the National Political Commissar wants all structures within the province to have proper cells and proper cell leaders so that as we head for elections, we will be knowing that we have a strong base. Where cells are not there, they have to be formed,” he said. — @DubeMatutu
