THE Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) is constructing a shopping mall at the Exhibition Park in Harare as part of the society’s long-term master plan to modernise and diversify its facilities.

ZAS head of works and estate services, Engineer Enkelbert Makaure, said the project was in line with the masterplan of the showground, which aims to provide a layout that will guide all future growth and development.

“In the master plan, we will have modern exhibition facilities. We will have facilities such as the BnBs, and the Glamis Arena which will be a modern stadium to cater for events like the main agricultural show and will also host other events like football and sports events among others.”

“In the master plan, we also included things like theme parks and others. So this is currently in progress and we hope that before mid-year we will have a document that we will be working with,” he said.

Eng Makaure said this was a big commercial development.

“It will be a revenue source, but above all, it will bring a new outlook. It is modernising the showground and brings a new dimension. There will be a lot of businesses and a lot of new activities, so it is a good investment for ZAS,” he said.
