The Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government, represented by the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development to promote agricultural development in the country.
The agreement focuses on two major agricultural development programmes:
The Master Farmer Training Programme, a capacity-building initiative aimed at enhancing the skills of practising farmers and,
The Agricultural Colleges Scholarship Programme, which aims to nurture a new generation of farmers.
ZAS describes the scholarship initiative as potentially the largest of its kind in Zimbabwe.
“One of ZAS’s major reasons for opting to support the agricultural college’s scholarship programme is that the society sees the value and believes in the pivotal role played by the agricultural colleges to achieve productivity,” reads the MOU.
The programme is designed to train future farmers, farm managers and technicians through practical hands-on experience.
