ZB Financial Holdings targets regional expansion

ZB Financial Holdings says it is pursuing regional and international market expansion as part of a strategy to diversify its investment portfolio and strengthen resilience against domestic and global economic shocks.

In the six-month financials to June 30, 2026, ZB Financial Holdings board chairperson Agnes Makamure said the expansion into regional and international markets would complement the group’s domestic operations by broadening its investment base.

The strategy comes against a backdrop of an evolving domestic and global economic environment, and the group remains focused on generating sustainable revenues and maintaining disciplined cost management to enhance shareholder value.

“…we are actively pursuing a market expansion strategy, including entry into regional and international markets, to diversify our investment portfolio and build a robust hedge against both domestic and global headwinds.

“The Group remains unwavering in its commitment to delivering value-added financial solutions that support national development, while maintaining a sharp focus on sustainable revenue generation and disciplined cost management to drive shareholder value,” Mrs Makamure said.

Mrs Makamure said global economic prospects remained largely dependent on conditions in the oil market, which have a direct bearing on domestic exchange rates and inflation dynamics.

Zimbabwe, which relies heavily on imported fuel and other energy products, remains vulnerable to movements in global oil prices, which can feed through to domestic costs, inflation and exchange-rate pressures.

She said sustained de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East could help stabilise energy markets and provide further support to the positive economic outlook.

“From a global perspective, the outlook remains largely contingent on conditions in the oil market, which have a direct bearing on domestic exchange rates and inflation dynamics,” Mrs Makamure said.

She said the group also intends to deepen its support for the Government’s Vision 2030 through initiatives aimed at strengthening productive sectors of the economy, in line with the development agenda.

The group indicated that it will also focus on interventions designed to improve financial inclusion, ensuring that more individuals and businesses have access to formal financial services.

Emphasis on productive-sector financing and financial inclusion is expected to support economic activity and create opportunities for the group to grow its core financial services businesses.
