ZCC celebrates Mutendi’s birthday

Thousands of Zion Christian Church (ZCC) followers thronged the church’s cathedral in Masvingo to celebrate Bishop Nehemia Mutendi’s 78th birthday at the weekend. Addressing the congregation, Bishop Mutendi encouraged them to register as voters in preparation for next year’s harmonised elections. He urged community leaders to assist their subjects to get national identity cards and be registered as voters.

“Let us join the nation on the voter registration exercise which is progressing well,” he said. “It is everyone’s birthright to vote and I am very sure that our Member of Parliament here present Honourable (Davies) Marapira is going to assist those who reside in this constituency so that they vote for peace.”

Bishop Mutendi urged his followers to be trustworthy and continue fighting temptations so that peace prevails in Zimbabwe.

“It is difficult for every one of us to be faithful, but let us try to get there,” he said. “Let us respect our leaders. Do not revolt against our Government, pray for the economic shift. A good economic situation is seen in a country where citizens respect their leaders. Leaders also should be faithful and trustworthy.”

Masvingo North legislator Cde Davies Marapira emphasized peace in Zimbabwe.

“Let us continue to exercise peace from household level,” he said. “The current economic hardships will pass, for it is written that everything shall come to pass.”
