NETBALL Premier League champions Defence Forces Queens were finally rewarded for winning the Find the Ball Tournament in Gaborone, Botswana.
The team was awarded their 50 000 pula prize money with the club’s patron Aaron Nhepera also pledging another US$3 000 to the girls.
Speaking at a handover ceremony yesterday, Nhepera, who is also the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence and War Veterans Affairs, said he was happy to be part of a club that is accustomed to winning.
“It is always my pleasure to be associated with your achievements, as you were once again crowned the 2025 Premier Netball League Champions.
This win prompted your invitation to participate in the Find the Ball Tournament that was held in Botswana from July 16 to 22, in which you were also crowned champions.
“This remarkable feat came immediately after you won the 2025 Premier Netball League Championship. This impressive performance has indeed gone a long way in promoting the sport, which makes us proud. After winning the P50 000, I am happy to announce that I will top up an equivalent US$3 000,” said Nhepera.
To win the Find the ball tournament, ZDF Queens managed to get the better of Botswana Defence Forces Cats, Ju-waneng, also from the hosts, and Lesotho outfit Greenlight.
