Sharing the stage with his inspiration has left Muntu with renewed courage and a greater drive to work harder on his upcoming musical projects.
Muntu the Living Proof (12), born Bamphamandla Moyo, shared his excitement after performing at the Izipho Music Festival held at Esibayeni in Mpopoma, Bulawayo, on Sunday.
The artist performed three of his hit songs. He dedicated his final track, titled “My Zambezi (Juju)”, to South African “Funk 55” hitmaker Zee Nxumalo, who was the event’s guest artist.
“My next song is called Juju. Tonight, I’ll perform this song as a dedication to our guest artist, Zee Nxumalo. When I grow up, I will marry you, Zee Nxumalo,” Muntu announced vibrantly.
The crowd applauded as the young artist surprised everyone in attendance. Despite being the youngest performer at the event, his motivational words and energetic musical beats kept the crowd dancing. Muntu demonstrated that he is not merely seeking fame, but that music genuinely comes from his heart.
He thanked the Izipho Music Festival directors for giving him a platform on the show, adding that he felt privileged to rub shoulders with established local artists.
“It’s a huge privilege for me to share the stage and sit alongside such popular artists. I was excited to meet and pose for pictures with Black Diva, Mzoe7, Zhezhingtons, and others. I hope that peers my age who share the same talent and dream can also make it this far,” said Muntu.
Local artists and DJs who performed at the event included DJ Skaiva, Mzoe7, Black Diva, Zhezhingtons, MJ the DJ, Lokeys, UVM, and DJ Mitchie.
Muntu the Living Proof hails from Plumtree town and continues to inspire both adults and his peers through his music. Along his journey, he has been joined by fellow youngsters who now serve as dancers during his live shows. He has brought exposure and inspiration to those with artistic ambitions, proving through his dedication that nothing is impossible, regardless of background.
