The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) has received an application for Yellowcob Enterprises (Private) Limited to construct, own, operate, and maintain a 960kW solar photovoltaic plant in Harare Province.

In a statement issued by Zera, it was proposed that the solar plant be located at SPAR Groombridge.

“Anyone who wants to provide feedback has 14 days from the date of the last publication, which will end on December 13, 2024, to submit their written comments to the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera),” reads the statement.

Yellowcob’s application was made in terms of the provisions of Sections 42 and 46 of the Electricity Act (Chapter 13:19) of 2002, according to Zera.

This development comes as Zimbabwe continues to promote the use of renewable energy sources to address the country’s power deficit.
