ZESA Holdings was the biggest winner yesterday after clinching the overall winner’s award at the 115th Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS) competitions.
The awards ceremony was presided over by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who officially opened this year’s edition of ZAS.

Under the Farmer Competitions, Praxedes Murefu from Chegutu was the overall Best Agriproduce Exhibitor, while Mashonaland Central Province’s Nemrod Gochamahove won the Best Tobacco Grower of the Year. George Siyachingoma from Binga won the Best Cotton Grower of the Year.

SKC from Manicaland Province scooped the Best Livestock Exhibitor, Claudia Chidume from Midlands Province was the Pfumvudza winner, Tawanda Matangira from Mashonaland Central clinched the Commercial Maize winner’s award and Ian Duncan from Matabeleland North was the Commercial Soyabeans winner.
Caroline Lupahla from Matabeleland North was the Best Extension Worker and Simbarashe Mukwashi from Manicaland Province was the Best Small Livestock winner.
Under the Commercial Stands Competitions, the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) won the award for the Best Display for Agricultural Value Addition and Beneficiation, ZimParks won the Best Organisation Exhibiting Sustainable Conservation Practices, Tongaat Hulett scooped the Best Display by an Exhibitor Engaged in Agroprocessing and the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development won the Best Display by the Public Service Sector (Government Departments only) award.

Best display by a state enterprise or parastatal was won by the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB), Best stand exhibited by a member of the Zimbabwe State Security Services was scooped by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Best display by a local authority was won by Binga Rural District Council, Best display by a financial services institution was won by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) and Best overall stand by a licenced energy sector company was won by ZESA Holdings.
Best exhibit in the healthcare sector was won by the National Social Security Agency (NSSA), best overall stand by a licenced postal and telecommunications operator was scooped by Econet Wireless Zimbabwe and Best overall stand by an organisation exhibiting climate smart projects in any sector was scooped by Midlands State University.
Best overall exhibit in the arts, culture and sports sector winner was Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services Arts, Best overall stand by an educational institution was Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), Best overall exhibitor in the construction sector was won by Allied Timbers Zimbabwe and Best display by a small to medium enterprises company for export and import substitution efforts winner was Zanu PF.
Cochrane Pumps Zimbabwe won the Organisation exhibiting best local enterprise development, Agriseeds won the best garden display by an exhibitor at the show and Scottland FC won the best first commercial exhibit in any sector.
