ZFRPA EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION THROUGH POULTRY FARMING

THE Zimbabwe Free Range Poultry Association (ZFRPA) is making significant strides in youth empowerment through innovative poultry projects designed specifically for schools and young people across the country.

Recognising the need for practical skills and sustainable income-generating opportunities, ZFRPA has rolled out a range of child-and youth-friendly poultry programmes.

These initiatives aim to equip students with hands-on knowledge in free-range poultry production while supporting schools in creating additional streams of income.

“Our goal is to empower the next generation with real-life skills they can use, not just in agriculture, but in business and community development,” said Mr James Goto, ZFRPA head of Business Development.

“By starting small, with chicks and proper training, we’re planting the seeds of entrepreneurship and responsibility.”

The association have been working closely with schools, community clubs, and youth organisations to introduce basic poultry farming practices, provide starter chicks, and offer mentorship and training.

During the recent Zimbabwe National Heritage Education Quiz finals, ZFRPA awarded chicks to winners as part of its drive to promote youth-led agribusiness. The initiative was warmly received, with many students showing enthusiasm and curiosity about poultry production.

ZFRPA also set up an information booth at the event, encouraging interested students, teachers, and parents to register for upcoming training and school programmes.

With rising interest in agriculture among the youth, ZFRPA’s efforts are contributing to a new wave of young farmers ready to build sustainable futures — one chick at a time.
