Zhou releases online album

In an interview, Zhou said he used to play the rhythm guitar for the late Andy Brown’s band, The Storm.
“I used to back up Andy Brown as his rhythm guitarist before I decided to start something of my own.
“Having to leave The Storm was a decision I made on my own so as to broaden my horizon,” he said.

Zhou also said he released his first album titled Chirimumoyo in 2003.
“Chirimumoyo was an album describing my aspirations as a solo artiste.
“In as much as I was backing other artistes, I had always strived to do something of my own,” he said.

Promoter Allan Mutandwe of Pin Touch Entertainment who has worked with renowned artistes such as Winky D, Dino Mudondo and Willom Tight marketed Chirimumoyo.
Tracks such as Chengeto, Dzivarinengwena and Vane Wire received tremendous airplay during that time and were loved by many particularly at growth points.
Zhou’s Mavanga album released last year, was        marketed and released on the website.

“My promoters linked me to United Kingdom-based Christopher Ashmann who operates an online Red Admirals Records musical website,” he said.
The website promotes artistes from all over the world.
Zhou said he believes  releasing his album on the website was a good move to combat piracy.

“With piracy being out of control, my music can be downloaded online and I would be in a position to get some sort of royalties,” he said.
The artiste also said his nine track album is set to be available on other websites such as My Space, You Tube and other musical websites.
Zhou also believes his music is universal as it appeals to a wide audience.
