ZIBAGWE-CHIRUMHANZU legislator Jacob Chokururama has vowed to spearhead the completion projects initiated by the First Family to uplift livelihoods in the area.

Zibagwe-Chirumhanzu constituency is home to President Mnangagwa’s Precabe Farm.

The First Family has implemented several projects to improve livelihoods in the constituency and these include the construction of classroom blocks, clinics, and borehole drilling among others.

Recently, the First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa received her share of a mukando (monthly contributions) project that she initiated when she was still MP for the area.

Cde Chokururama said he will continue with the projects initiated by the First Family.

“There are several projects that were spearheaded by the First Family in the constituency. I am there as their eyes in the constituency and my mandate is to initiate the President’s vision of uplifting the lives of the people in this area as they cannot be there full-time due to work commitments,” he said.

Cde Chokururama recently donated roofing material to Umlala Park Primary, Nyagari Primary and Chishuku Primary Schools after their roofs were recently blown off by strong winds.

“We must see to it that children have a safe and conducive learning environment. I therefore donated roofing material to these schools and they have since been repaired and learners are conducting lessons peacefully,” he said.

Dr Mnangagwa had started a borehole drilling programme that Cde Chokururama is pursuing.

“When Amai Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa started this programme, she wanted the communities to have access to clean water and embark on projects. As you know, she has a strong passion for empowerment programmes targeting women and the girl child,” said Cde Chokururama

“I have already purchased the seeds that we are handing over to the women so that they start the nutritional gardens. The project is meant to ensure that schoolchildren have access to clean water.”

Cde Chokururama has since facilitated the drilling of 10 boreholes, four of them solar-powered.

“I will continue with the drilling of more boreholes so that no one is left behind in terms of access to clean water. As the Second Republic, we are saying that no one and no place should be left behind,” he said.

Recently, Cde Chokururama also facilitated the grading of a 40km stretch along the Kwekwe-Mvuma Road.

“The gravel road had become un-trafficable due to rains. I sourced the material and ensured that the road was graded from Mahamara to Mvuma turn-off. Although Government is in the process of rehabilitating the road, this is just a temporary measure to ensure that the road is trafficable,” he said.

Among other projects, the First Family is constructing classroom blocks at Maware Primary as well as refurbishing clinics to enhance healthcare service delivery.

“I will continue monitoring their projects and ensuring that they are completed. I am not going to start any new projects unless all the projects left by the First Family are completed. This is my mandate and I will fulfill it,” said Cde Chokururama
