The Zimbabwe Council of Copyrights (Zicco) has announced that it will distribute royalties to its registered members twice this year, with the first payout cycle approaching. To be eligible for the upcoming disbursement, artistes are required to complete their registration with Zicco by May 30, 2025.

Zicco chief executive officer Tafadzwa Masembura said the royalties are collected from general music users who play a wide range of tracks, with no specific playlist guiding the collection process. Due to this method, funds will be shared equally among all qualifying members, with each artiste guaranteed a minimum of $50.
“Artistes must finalise their registration process to benefit from the distribution. Those who hold dual membership with other collective management organisations must relinquish it if they want to enjoy the full benefits of ZICCO,” Masembura urged.

To register, artistes need to, complete the official ZICCO registration form, submit music in CD or DVD format, provide a copy of their ID or passport, submit next of kin details, and pay the administration fee.

Registration and updates can be done at Zicco offices across the country.

The Zimbabwe Council of Copyrights (Zicco) is an organisation dedicated to protecting the rights of artistes and ensuring they receive fair compensation for their work. Zicco collects royalties, safeguards copyrights, and works to alleviate poverty among musicians. The council also focuses on empowering artistes, promoting creativity, and combating piracy.
