“After a well-informed consultation with students from various institutions, we have come to a point of declaring our support to Cde Robert Mugabe as our one and only candidate in the Presidential race during the harmonised elections,” Mteliso said.
He said the students body had also pledged to support all Zanu-PF candidates during the elections.
“To that effect we have launched a national tour to all our institutions to encourage all our members and all those who would like to join us for this mammoth cause as we get rid of this dysfunctional government of national unity that has failed to deliver for the past four years,” he said.
The campaign is under the banner — “Academics running fully behind The Fist”.
Mteliso also called on all students to register as voters as it is the only weapon to make students voices heard.
“We are liaising with the Registar-Gerneral’s Office to have the mobile registration closer to our institutions or even to be stationed right there to increase convenience of the process and not disturb on-going studies in the short space of time that we are left with up to the 18th of May,” he said.
Zicosu also denounced violence and called on politicians to behave in a mature way and avoid sponsoring violent activities.
The organisation said it would lobby for students on cadetship to sit for their examinations without any hassles to clear fees on a zero balance term that is going on at the moment.
“Zicosu is aware of the accommodation problems and general upkeep of our students, that is the struggle we have at the moment. I would like all to be strong and not to lose hope; it’s just for a moment,” he said.
The organisation also called on landlords who house students to stop capitalising on student problems hiking rentals monthly.
