THE fragmented Zifa Board has sent a begging bowl to their president Cuthbert Dube to bail them out and pay Callisto Pasuwa his outstanding salaries to enable him to return as Warriors’ coach.
Pasuwa’s manager Mahachi met with the three-member Zifa task team of John Phiri, Fungai Chihuri and Jonathan Mashingaidze on Monday to discuss the coach’s fate.
But it emerged that the sticking point remains that Zifa have to pay up what they owe before contract talks begin.
Faced with this scenario Chihuri and his colleagues decided to go and borrow from Dube in order not to further delay the start of Warriors preparations.
Yesterday, Phiri said they failed to meet Dube as the president had a couple of meetings with officials from the Ministry of Sport, Arts and Culture.
Zifa have found a sponsor who is willing to pay Pasuwa part of his monthly salary, the the Association paying the rest, and also avail a vehicle for the coach.
The association wants Pasuwa to remain in charge and is racing against time to ink a contract with Pasuwa who quit in a huff after working for 10 months without a contract and without a salary.
