BELEAGURED Zifa president Cuthbert Dube left the country yesterday to attend the Confederation of African Football (Caf) 37th ordinary general assembly that begins today in Egypt.
Dube was accompanied by Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze and board member John Phiri.
Zifa vice present and Bulawayo businessman Omega Sibanda is the acting president.
Outgoing Fifa president Sepp Blatter, who is seeking another term in office, is expected to address the gathering.
Dube has already made his support for Blatter very clear but his attendance has already raised some eyebrows especially for a man who rarely watches the Zimbabwe national team in action.
Dube has watched just one of the 47 national team matches since coming into office in 2010 but has rarely missed a Fifa or Caf gathering.
The 37th ordinary Caf congress is largely expected to be a campaign tool for the Fifa president Blatter who also faces a challenge from former player Luis Figo.
Figo was in the country recently as part of his campaign but never met with the electorate.
