THE Zimbabwe Football Association has announced that its chief executive officer, Yvonne Manwa, will exit the organisation at the end of the month.
This brings to a close a tenure marked by sweeping reforms and a return to international football.

In a statement released on Monday, Zifa confirmed that Manwa’s contract ends on 31 December and will not be renewed.
“Appointed by the Zifa Normalisation Committee, Ms Manwa has provided steady and purposeful leadership at a pivotal time of reform and rebuilding for Zimbabwean football,” the association said.

Under her stewardship, Zifa recorded several key milestones. These include the development and adoption of a new Zifa Constitution, the successful conduct of elections that ushered in the current Executive Committee, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sports and Recreation Commission, full re-staffing of the secretariat, and the launch of the Zifa Women’s Football Strategy for 2025 to 2028.

Her period in office also oversaw Zimbabwe’s seamless return to international football, capped by the Warriors’ qualification for Afcon 2025.
“Having guided Zifa through an extensive period of institutional renewal, Manwa has elected to conclude her contract and pave the way for a successor who will build on this strong platform and lead Zimbabwean football into its next phase of growth,” the statement read.

Zifa expressed “sincere appreciation” for her service and revealed that Manwa will not be cutting ties completely. Instead, she will continue working with the association as a consultant, focusing on women’s leadership.
Her departure marks the end of a reform-heavy chapter — and the start of another for Zimbabwean football.
