Zifa councillors back to school

ZIFA will run induction courses to educate board and assembly members on their roles and responsibilities. This was revealed by the association’s chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze who said the induction courses will run from this month until June. Tutors have already been identified to take the members through the football etiquette in line with the latest trends.

Top of the agenda on the programme is likely to be the issue of the secretariat and board roles, following clashes between the administrative and policy arms of the association.

Many board members, both at the national association down to regions and provinces, still believe in the old system of having board members literally in charge of the day to day running of football yet latest trends leave that to the secretariat.

There is no longer a board member responsible for any portfolio as has previously been the case but there is the chairman or president and his or her deputy while the rest are ordinary board members.
