THE Warriors players are now expected to start trooping into camp this evening after the Castle Lager Premiership games lined-up for today.
Coach Ian Gorowa had wanted the players to resume their preparations for the African Nations Championship qualifier against Zambia yesterday but the clubs held onto their players for the mid-week games.
Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela said they are were happy to have struck a common understanding when Zifa released match officials for the mid-week games.
“All players called by the coach for national duty are expected to report for training tomorrow (today).
“The first training session should start on Friday morning,” said Gwesela.
It was a major climbdown by Zifa as Gwesela had on Tuesday, issued a statement informing all national team players to report for duty yesterday.
Zifa, Gwesela said had taken note of the fact that the Premiership programme would be suspended for another two weeks as focus shifts once again to the national team.
“The PSL have agreed to cancel all matches next week so that we prepare adequately for the CHAN return match in Ndola.
“It is imperative to note that Zifa, as the national governing body has the responsibility to service all football portfolios, the PSL included,” said Gwesela.
The PSL rolled up their sleeves ready for a fight against Zifa after the association had dictated that the mid-week matches be called off and Gwesela claimed that such misunderstandings were normal.
“Disagreements are normal in any football family setting, but as members of the same family, we should also work out tangible solutions.
“The PSL is our child and definitely know where we can bullodoze it while we also have an obligation to listen to what they say,” said Gwesela.
