ZIFA have joined the rest of the nation in mourning the passing away of national hero and former Cabinet Minister, Sikhanyiso Ndlovu, in Bulawayo on Tuesday morning. Ndlovu, 78, died at Mater Dei Hospital where he had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after an asthma attack and subsequent stroke last week.
Zifa spokesman Xolisani Gwesela said the association had learnt of the passing away of Ndlovu with shock and grief as he was a staunch football fan with a soft spot for Highlanders.
“We are mourning with the rest of the nation as Ndlovu was a gallant Warriors’ supporter and unquestionable football fan,” said Gwesela. “Ndlovu played a crucial role in empowering the girl child and he once sponsored women’s football in the Southern Region. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ndlovu family at this time of grief and we encourage them to seek comfort and solace in the Almighty. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.
Ndlovu will be buried at the National Heroes Acre in Harare tomorrow.
